hi ya people

my car has now decided it doesnt wanna start its a 2.0l ford galaxy on a "N" plate when i put the key in and try and start it it makes a whizzing noise (starter motor i think) and then nothing. ive tried to jump start which didnt work and checked under passengers seat no swimming pool lol and led in drivers door staying on until i try to turn it over . bump starting works but pushing a galaxy up hilll is not the way to go i think any advise would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

If it is just the starter motor turning and not the engine (kind of high pitch whizzing sound), then it is probably a sticky solenoid in the starter motor (in which case a firm tap on the starter may well sort it).

Has this problem only just started happening?

I take it you sorted your broken auxilary belt was it just broken or had a pulley seized I did try sending you a picture of belt diagram but you only received the text which didnt make much sense without the pic, have since sorted pic problem. I think your right to get a new/recon starter. Tapping starter is never a permanent fix if it works at all.
